Furniture & Furnishings - Storage
Written by richart khalil

Efficient storage must follow simple, yet important rules. It has to begin by editing your possessions and sort them in priority order.  The second step is cleaning the interior spaces and only put objects that belong to that space. And finally organize your possessions while storing them in the most suitable storage for them, keeping in mind that the things you use daily are easily accessible.

For that different kind of storage are available:

  1. Bookshelves: as by the name, they are intended to store books. Search for the space considered redundant – such as over windows and doors, around the tops of room and on walls opposite the tops of stairs.
  2. Room dividers: while allowing light and vision, a shelving unit organized into cubby holes is accessible from both sides and has the advantages to store books and useful, decorative objects.
  3. Modular storage: bought in sections that either attach to each other or stack together to form a coherent unit of the desired size and configuration. This system is available for many types of storage such as wardrobes. It comes in wood as well as plastic, metal and other materials and colors.
  4. Chests of drawers: available in all shapes and sizes to suit every type of storage requirements.
  5. Crates and boxes: they are useful for storing anything to which you want regular, easy access. They are easy to transport and can be washed.
  6. Baskets and hampers: due to their tactile material and natural colors, they look good in almost every room and almost any decorative style. They are used for many purposes from wash-baskets to storing DVDs.
  7. Hooks and racks: invaluable ‘up-storage’ devices for getting things off the surfaces, hooks and racks are useful in every room for items that are in regular use.
  8. Cupboards: it plays a double role: while protecting and organizing the object inside, they hide the detritus of everyday life. They should be in proportion with the items stored inside and to the spaces in which they stand.
  9. Wardrobe storage: they come in every shape, size and price bracket, from the huge, valuable antique armoire to the budget-conscious softwood framework. There interior can be subdivided y installing a clothing rack – a set of shelves made from plastic or tough canvas stiffened with cardboard on which you place your garments.
  10. Shoe cupboards: it is often better to buy separate purpose-designed footwear storage than to try to stick your shoes in the small spaces in the wardrobes. They come in different shapes while all have perfect-sized pigeon holes.
  11. Deep storage: efficient long-term storage demand a dry, heavy-duty cardboard boxes secured with string or strong parcel tape. The key to successful storage is labeling. It is worth writing a brief description or list of contents on each side of a box.

Storage is a very delicate task that tests your discipline, flexibility and sense of organization. But do it once and it will surely become a habit.

The gigantic acrolith will surpass the record of China’s 153-metre Spring Temple Buddha, and will be almost double the height of New York city’s famed ‘Statue of Liberty’ and about five times the height of the statue of ‘Christ The Redeemer’ in Rio de Janeiro.
