Conceiving a heating system is a crucial task in the home process, because it contributes to the well being of all the residents.

The heating system has three major elements: matching the heating unit to the room size; make the most of the heating system; the style and material of the units.

Each of these elements has its importance in the design process, therefore follows a description of the heating system.

Materials:
Radiators are found either in iron or aluminum. Cast-iron radiators have the advantages of retaining heat for longer but the inconvenience of taking longer time to heat up. Aluminum radiators are better thermal conductors.

Radiator designs:
A wide range of sizes, shapes and finishes is now available into four radiators main families:

1. Classic radiators: these traditional radiators have a solid, physical aesthetical that work generally with a lot of interiors.

2. Vertical radiators: wall-mounted, tall are generally used where there is little space. Best solution for bathroom, there can be hidden behind doors; they come in different shapes and some manufacturers will custom-make them for you.

3. Low-level radiators: it comes with a low profile to fit beneath tall windows, or to go with the skirting. It provides a large surface area for heating the air.

4. Underfloor heating: suitable for most floor surface, it is installed usually in contemporary houses where large expanses of floor, glass walls and room dividers limit the wall surface that can be used to hang traditional radiators.  They are very efficient in term of heating and energy saving.

The heating system, backed up with technology, is no more a threat to a good design; on the contrary it is becoming more and more a help for much interior designer where its elements are used as contemporary sculptures.
