Single Home - Decoration and Furnishing

You do not need any more to collect cast-offs from friends and family to furnish your home. Basic furniture and furnishings are now available, providing contemporary design at an affordable price, but are usually flat-packed and self-assembled at home.

Simple designs that serve more than one function are usually a good solution when you face lack of money and space: a basic table can be used for both eating and working; Sofa beds fulfill a double purpose; stacking stools function as side-tables, as additional seating or as places to perch a lamp. Modular designs, from sectional seating to storage units are another practical idea.
While improvisation still has a role to play, spend your money as you can afford on items that directly affect your comfort and wellbeing such as sofas or mattresses. They may not be the most exciting purchase you will ever make but it will be more than worth the investment.
When space is very tight, fitted furniture can be a good solution: tables that pull out from a kitchen counter’s side, beds that fold down and workspaces that are enclosed by sliding doors or screens when not in use. These solutions keep the floor as clear as possible while giving the illusion of greater space.
And to bring a personal touch, you need to make it feel like home by adding a piece that has some public or private history.
